How Does a Pressure Transmitter Determine Liquid Level

The pressure transmitter must withstand extreme conditions such as high and low temperatures, corrosion, vibration, shock, etc. during operation. In addition, for the transmitter to operate efficiently and reliably, it must be manufactured, have an optimized technical design and sample model configuration, and be properly maintained on site. With careful consideration of these three aspects, the pressure transmitter can operate efficiently and reliably in any environment.

Pressure Transmitter

Pressure transmitters are essential in many industries for accurate pressure measurements and various other applications. Our pressure transmitters are used in steel, chemical, paper, wastewater treatment, water supply, heating, power, food, non-ferrous metal and other industries. In addition to measuring pressure, our pressure transmitters are ideal for measuring flow (with a differential pressure transmitter) and level (with liquid pressure transmitters). Our advanced technology and accurate calibration make our pressure transmitters a reliable and accurate choice for your industrial needs.

The static pressure of a point in a liquid at rest is directly proportional to the distance of that point from the liquid surface. This can be expressed mathematically as P = ρgh where:

  • P is the pressure (pressure intensity) at the measured point;
  • ρ is the density of the medium;
  • g is the acceleration due to gravity;
  • h is the height between the estimated point and the liquid surface.

Installation Tips:

  1. To measure the level of a liquid at rest in an open vessel, mount the level sensor vertically at the bottom of the vessel and securely fasten the cable from the sensor to the junction box at the vessel opening. Make sure the cable is properly connected to avoid damaging or interfering with the transmitter. Also, make sure the level sensor is properly calibrated to ensure accurate readings.
  2. For medium viscosity liquids such as sewage, ensure the transducer is securely fastened to the bottom of the container. To do this, install a box or bracket to ensure that the transmitter does not move. This ensures accurate readings and the liquid will not damage the transducer.
  3. When working on an outdoor installation, it is important to ensure that the transmitter terminal block is in a well-ventilated and dry location. This reduces the risk of direct exposure to light and rain, which can cause the case to overheat or water ingress and damage the internal circuit board. Performing these steps can help maintain the integrity of your installation.
