How Effective are Magnetic Flap Level Meters for Wastewater Measurement

The magnetic flap level meter is a kind of instrument for liquid level measurement in the chemical industry. It can be measured in various liquid media. It can also display the liquid level on-site and can be used with sensors. Finally, it transmits the level signal to the control room for easy operation by the staff.

Urban sewage is now a worldwide concern for environmental protection. Everyone needs water every day, and we all produce a lot of waste sewage and dirty water. Yet, beneath the tidy urban ground, tens of thousands of tonnes of wastewater are waiting to be treated.

Magnetic Flap Level Meter Sewage Treatment

In the production of wastewater treatment plants, the measurement of the level is critical measurement data. Currently, quite a few types of instrumentation can be used for level measurement in wastewater treatment. However, the magnetic flap level meter is vital in wastewater measurement. In this article, we will discuss practical case studies and site inspections.

1. Features

As a level meter with many advantages of simple structure, easy installation, intuitive readings, and easy maintenance, the magnetic flap level meter plays a vital role in municipal wastewater treatment.

2. Working principle

The magnetic flap level meter is a level meter based on the principle of buoyancy and magnetic coupling. When the liquid level in the measuring vessel rises and falls, the lower float of the level meter rises and falls under the action of fluid buoyancy. It drives the level meter through the connecting rod. At this time, the magnet in the body tube also rises and falls.

Magnetic flap level meter- working principle

The magnets are transferred to the magnetic flip column indicator through magnetic coupling, driving the red and white flip columns to flip 180°. When the level rises, the column changes from white to red. Likewise, the column changes from red to white when the level drops. The red-white junction of the indicator is the actual height of the liquid level inside the vessel, thus achieving a clear indication of the fluid level.

3. The use of magnetic flap level meters

Sewage contains many harmful components, which are unsuitable for manual contact and operation. In this case, how do we transfer and exclude the sewage; how do we grasp the actual sewage situation becomes a problem.

We add a transmitter with the magnetic flap level meter in the actual measurement. We use the transmitter to achieve the remote transmission of data out. We can also add upper and lower limit alarms to gain automatic level control.

In this way, we can flexibly grasp the liquid depth of the sewage and the hydraulic situation. At the same time, we can also project the approximate volume of the sewage. We also use the data to differentiate and transfer. Once the command has been entered, the transmitter changes the hydraulic pressure in the liquid via electromagnetic waves, thus prompting the liquid to be transported on its initiative and safeguarding the goal of safe and environmentally friendly sewage treatment.

4. The effect of applying magnetic flap level meter in wastewater treatment.

4.1 Grille operation control

We installed one magnetic flap level meter in each coarse and fine grille. The level difference between the front and rear of the grille is then used to reflect the degree of grille blockage and is transmitted to the PLC controller for analysis and calculation. When the level difference exceeds a preset value, the grille is controlled to operate normally. Then the waste is removed to ensure regular water flow, thus reasonably reducing equipment wear and tear.

4.2 Lift pump operation control

We have installed two magnetic flip column level meters at the inlet pump well to control the inlet water energy lifting pump automatically. First, we use the measured water level in the pump well to transmit the signal and transfer it to the PLC controller and the host computer; then, we will carry out a system analysis.

Magnetic Float Level Meter

According to the measured value corresponding to the control program, the operation of the lifting pump is automatically controlled in combination. This way, we can adjust the pump operation status accurately and timely according to the amount of water coming from the plant and reduce equipment fatigue. At the same time, it can be the human resource consumption of three shifts in a traditional pumping station can be eliminated.

4.3 Real-time glass tube level meter monitoring of flow and treatment volume

For the operation and management of wastewater treatment plants, the amount of water is an important control parameter. Accurate and timely control of water intake, process control, and improving the ability to resist hydraulic load impact of the sewage plant have an essential role to play.

Traditional water quantity measurement uses weir plates or venturi flow tanks etc. However, they all suffer from the disadvantage of not being able to monitor in real-time and also not being able to display in real-time.

Magnetic Float Level Meter

Jiangsu BCST wastewater outside the metering tank using ultrasonic flow a meter combined with venturi tank. It can be in the field, and the upper computer real-time display flows most and cumulative treatment, which is to achieve accurate measurement of treatment water, as well as for operation and management to provide real-time flow.

5. Magnetic flap level meter in the sewage industry fault solution.

In the sewage industry, the liquid mostly belongs to the strong alkali and acid and with corrosive nature of the liquid. Therefore, due to the selection error, we did not choose the anti-corrosion material, which led to the level meter in the field. Therefore, after some time, the measurement float will occur corrosion leakage.

The magnetic flip column of the magnetic flap level meter panel does not rotate up and down with the liquid level in the tank. So now, the level meter will not be able to reflect the real-time liquid level. At this time, we need to close the gate valve, remove the magnetic flap level meter, and then the overall material for spraying anti-corrosion so that the user can solve the fault.

6. Conclusion

The magnetic flap level meter has a simple structure, intuitive and precise observation, no clogging, no leakage, easy installation, and simple maintenance.

In industrial manufacturers, many acid, alkaline, and other media have a certain degree of corrosiveness. Corrosive media can have a corrosive effect on the instrumentation, thus used when the impact occurs. Such as flowmeter life, accuracy, use range, leakage, etc., and may even be due to the failure to timely detection or timely treatment of corrosive media leakage and breeding safety hazards, we must be paid attention to it.
