What are Flow Sight Glass Types

WHAT IS A SIGHT GLASS FLOW INDICATOR?

A sight glass flow indicator gauges the process material’s direction, speed, and flow. It is a product installed in a pipe that provides a visual aid to verify the order and accuracy of liquid flow. Sight glass flow indicators are widely used in process industries to monitor liquid, powder, or gas media. They provide information about the media’s direction and rate of flow through one or more observation windows.

Sight glass flow indicators are usually installed in process pipelines to allow visual observation of the direction and rate of flow of liquid, powder, or gas media. In addition, sight glass flow indicators can measure color, clarity, and movement speed. When installed in process pipelines, sight glass flow indicators may provide valuable insight into what is happening inside the channel.

Sight glasses are used for all chemical, biological, and physical processes. For example, processers must quickly determine when all stages of their operation have been completed and safely shut down the equipment if there is an error. Sight glasses help operators monitor production stages through visual inspection, ensuring they are not introducing contaminants into their products. Sight glasses can also be used to ensure that media or fluids are not contaminated by excessive amounts of impurities such as dirt or dust particles. In addition, the sight glass helps operators understand when a particular level is reached. Unfortunately, the sight glass can no longer use because it will not meet safety standards.

TYPES OF SIGHT GLASS FLOW INDICATOR

PIPE SIGHT GLASS FLOW INDICATOR

Pipe sight glasses are one the essential accessories for industrial pipeline installations. We can use them to observe the flow reaction of liquid, gas, steam, and other media in any pipeline. They can also monitor production to avoid accidents during the production process. Pipe sight glasses have a small installation size and a small driving torque. As a result, they are easy and rapid to operate and have good flow adjustment function and closing sealing characteristics. The pipe sight glass uses large and medium diameter fields, with low-pressure areas being the dominant forms.

FULL VIEW SIGHT GLASS FLOW INDICATOR

The 360 View Flow Indicator is a cylindrical or tubular flow indicator suitable for low-pressure applications, moderate flow rates, and where maximum visibility is required.  The hands are available in different glass lengths. This sight glass flow indicator should not be subjected to mechanical strain.

VIEW THROUGH FLOW INDICATOR

This flow indicator is designed to withstand the total ASME pressure rating. The glass or two glasses are on opposite sides, allowing the operator to see through the process medium. In addition, a light may be fixed on the opposite side of the viewing side, which allows a better view of the flowing medium. This flow indicator is supplied with single glass or two glasses on opposite sides.

VIEW THROUGH FLAPPER FLOW INDICATOR

View through flapper is a flow indicator that is fitted with a hinged flapper, which can be seen through the sight glass. The flapper is deflected towards the flow direction, indicating the flow rate to the operator. This type of indicator is suitable for horizontal and vertical installation. This indicator is ideal for use with transparent fluids and gases, which are hard to detect by direct observation, and for opaque or dark liquids, which are difficult to observe.

VIEW THROUGH ROTARY FLOW INDICATOR

View-through rotary indicators are fitted with rotors or impellers which rotate due to fluid flow. The speed of the impeller or rotor indicates the flow rate through the pipe. The rotary flow indicator consists of a rotating disc that rotates due to liquid flow in a pipe. The amount of rotation, measured in degree (DEG), is proportional to the flow velocity through the line. We can use indicators for horizontal and vertical installations, but it has only been designed with pipes from one diameter upwards.

VIEW THROUGH DRIP INDICATOR

Drip models are used in processes involving gravity flow, extremely low or intermittent flow. A substantial advantage of a drip model is no obstruction to downward flow. Drip models are designed for use with gravity-fed or intermittent-fed systems. The product is delivered through a pipeline from the bottom of the container to the top of a container or tank. The water level should be monitored by an automatic float valve or another device that controls the water level to maintain proper product temperature and pressure. A drip tube may also be used as an overflow control device when it is covered with a perforated baffle plate.

INDUSTRIAL SIGHT GLASS FLOW INDICATOR

Industrial sight glass is a kind of industrial production installed in specific instruments, equipment, windows, or holes to observe the flame temperature, gas, steam, and other media flow gas. We use glass with exceptional high-temperature, high-pressure, corrosion, high-temperature, muscular mechanical strength, and good transparency. It can be used in many fields, such as coal gas and natural gas refineries, to observe the temperature of flue gas after the combustion process. Industrial sight glass is also used in coal gas purification plants to keep flue gas temperature before and after burning coal.

Manufacturers and operators can choose from various sight glasses in varying sizes and shapes. Visit our website for more information about sight glasses and other liquid level indicating devices.
