What Is A Float Level Gauge

A buoy level gauge is a simple liquid level measurement instrument. It is suitable for petrochemical systems containing corrosive media tanks, oil fields, oil depots, and other flat-bottomed conical covers and vaulted containers.

As well as general enterprises, civil construction of the water tower (water tank) is required for inexpensive level measurement to solve the difficulties of manual liquid level measurement.

What Is A Float Level Gauge

Working Principle

Buoy level meter with a buoy as the measuring element. When the liquid level changes, the buoy floats up and down. The medium through the buoy soft connection with the traction cable driven by the main body of the riser hammer (containing magnets) to do the reverse synchronous movement, and then the use of magnets and magnetic flap of the magnetic coupling effect, driving the magnetic flap flip 180 °.

At this time, the top of the display is for the lower limit of the liquid level (both zero), and the bottom is for the upper limit of the fluid level (both full scale). When the liquid level rises, the display indicates the height of the liquid level in red. And the lower part of the red is white, showing that there is no liquid part.

As the fluid level continues to rise, the red color continues to increase by moving up and down, and the white color continues to move down and decrease so that the display continuously expands the height of the liquid level in red.

Technical Performance

The buoy level gauge is used for medium-level detection in dry towers, tanks, troughs, spherical vessels, and boilers.

The buoy level gauge should be used in high pressure, high temperature, and corrosive media level measurements. It is reliable, has good safety, and makes up for the glass plate (tube) level gauge indication, which needs to be clarified and makes it easy to break the shortcomings.

In addition, the buoy level meter is not subject to high and low temperatures drastic influence. It doesn’t need more than one group of liquid level meter combinations. Also, it can be measured throughout the blind spot, and displays eye-catching, intuitive readings, and a large measurement range.

Especially the on-site instructions part because they are not in direct contact with the liquid medium, so the high temperature, high pressure, high contamination, toxic, harmful, corrosive solid media, more apparent its superiority. Therefore, it is more reliable, safe, timely, and practical than the traditional glass tube.

Installation

Installation of the buoy’s connecting wire and the weight pointer.

One end of the buoy and the connecting steel wire is clamped and fixed with the wire clevis. The other end of the connecting steel wire is mounted into the two pre-installed guiding pulley boxes, connected with the weight pointer, and then clamped and fixed with the wire clevis. Then, the guiding pulley brackets are adjusted so the connecting steel wire is horizontal and vertical, and the buoy is flexible in the guiding steel wire activities.

Note:

A: The buoy should have a light, slippery feeling, with no jamming, twisting, knotting, coiling, or damage.

B: Master the required length of the steel wire.

Welding and installation of the lower support of the guide wire

At the bottom of the container, in accordance with the buoy level meter, float movement direction requirements are used to determine the position, welding, or riveting of a well-fixed guide wire under the support.

If the equipment doesn’t have welding conditions, you can use the heavy anchor fixing method to fix the guide wire under the support. If the liquid level in the container does not fluctuate much, the guide wire may not be installed.

Installation of guide wire

  • Straighten the steel wire by force and fix it on the lower support. Be careful not to bend or knot the steel wire so as not to affect the up-and-down movement of the buoy.
  • Thread the guide wire through the buoy level meter buoy guiding ear hook and then into the hook screw. Fix the end of the wire and clamp it with the wire clevis. Tighten the hook nut to create tension and then tighten the upper nut to prevent loosening. Finally, cover it with the provided cover.
  • They should be perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other to ensure the distance between them is 300mm.

Scale installation

The length of the scale is determined according to the measuring range provided by the user at the ordering time. Installation requirements are as follows:

  • The connecting part of the scale should be straight, smooth, and free from concavity and convexity so as not to affect the regular operation of the pointer of the hammer or cause an error of measurement.
  • The scale should be perpendicular to the liquid level in the tank and should not be tilted. Scale installation of verticality can not be more significant than 5 ° to prevent the hammer pointer from getting stuck so that the measurement fails.
  • In the welding scale tripod, we should install the surface in the same plane and the hole in the same straight line. At the same time, we should also ensure that the scale surface and the hammer pointer on both sides of the guide are straight (straight line) so that the hammer pointer in the scale is on the flexible lifting.

Note: The distance between the two scales is 1 meter.

Conclusion

The buoy level gauge in the measurement process and liquid absolute isolation do not touch the liquid. It less influences the corrosive or high-temperature abnormal medium. We only need to pay attention to the wire and pulley starvation maintenance and regular testing.
