The Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter is widely used in liquid level measurement fields such as petroleum, chemical industries, and so on. Also, it gradually becomes a substitute for other conventional sensors and becomes a competitive product of liquid level measurement. For liquid storage tanks that exist on PetroChina, Sinopec, and various industrial sites or locations, most measurements on the liquid level inside the tank are accomplished by the way of the man climbing up the tank and casting feet.

Using Magnetostrictive Level transmitter to measure the liquid level of the tank has the following advantages:
High Reliability: The Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter adopts the waveguide principle and has no movable mechanical parts. Therefore, it has no friction or abrasion. The whole converter is sealed inside of the stainless steel tube and has no contact with the measured medium. The sensor works reliably and has a long service life.
High Accuracy: Because the Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter uses waveguide pulse to work and determine the measured displacement by measuring the time from the start pulse to the terminal pulse, the accuracy of measurement is very high and its resolution is superior to O.O1%FS, which the other sensors are very hard to reach.
Great Safety: The Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter has a high performance of anti-explosion. It is especially suitable for the measurement of chemical raw material and flammable liquid. There is no need to open the tank cover when measuring to avoid unsafely caused by manual measurement
Easy Installation and Simple Maintenance: The Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter is normally installed via the existing tube orifice on the top of the tank. It is particularly suitable for the installation of the underground storage tank and the tank that has been put into operation, which can ensure a normal production during the process of installation.
Automatic Work: The secondary instrument of the Magnetostrictive Level Transmitter adopts standard output signal to easily process the signal for microcomputers, it is simply to realize online work and improve the automation degree of the whole measuring system.
The Magnetostrictive Level transmitter consists of three parts: probe rod, circuit unit, and float When measuring, the circuit unit generates a current pulse and this pulse transmits downward along the magnetostrictive line and thus generates a ring-form magnetic field. The float is equipped probe rod outside and the float along the probe rod moves upward and downward with the change of the liquid level. Because a group of permanent magnets is mounted inside of the float, the float generates a magnetic field at the same time. When the current magnetic field encounters the float magnetic field, a “twisted” pulse, or called “Return” pulse will be generated. Convert the time difference between the “Return” pulse and current pulse into a pulse signal, and then calculate out the actual position of the float to accomplish the liquid level measurement.
- The wiring casing of the liquid level sensor has two terminals, separately representing “24V” and “signal”. The “24V‘ connects to POOL+, while the “signal” connects to POOL-.
- The cable must be shielded. The shielding line connects to the grounding bolts.
- Load resistor should not exceed 300Q.
Notice :
- Each sensor must have a separate power supply that complies with the product requirement;
- The shielding cable of the sensor must be away from the high power supply, RF signal source, and other transmitting lines with noise;
- The shielding net line of the cable must be intact, without broken lines, and connected to the GND of the follow-up equipment
Installation method
Installation Preparation
Carefully read all installation instructions and prevent the ambient temperature, impact, vibration, and pressure from exceeding the allowable scope of the sensor; the probe rod should NOT be bent Do NOT make the electronic parts or the end of the transmitter withstand large impact The sensor should NOT be used in the location where chemical reactions or other objects that may cause damage to the sensor; such as inflammable, explosive, corrosive vapors and liquids. The electronic components of the sensor are splash-proof but should not be immersed. Make sure the liquid should not immerse the top of the hexagon base. After installation, the probe rod should be treated with protection.
Installation Method
Use the sensor holder to hold the sensor and use a lock nut to secure the holder onto the sensor thread, Fix the open magnetic ring with two check gaskets #6 and two special bolts M3X12 on the magnetic ring bracket When mounting the magnetic ring onto the probe rod, the screw head should face towards the side of hexagon base. The magnetic ring should be aligned with the probe rod and no contact between them, but slight misalignment will not influence the sensor performance; Tighten the fixed strip around the end of the probe rod and secured it with two M3X8 bolts and two M3 nuts.
Note: Only one piece of the fixed strip is available for the MK-1 as an installation accessory. Fix it at less than 50mm distance from the probe rod. MK-2 installation accessory has 3 pieces of the fixed strip. Installation method: One is fixed within a 25mm distance from the end; the other two are distributed on the probe rod. Finally, tighten the whole preliminarily installed sensor with self-made screws according to the installation requirement.
